Course Descriptions
Middle Georgia RESA’s MTSS Facilitator Endorsement program is designed to prepare individuals to serve as MTSS Facilitators in P-12 schools and districts. The program is designed to equip districts and schools with highly effective coordinators who possess the skills, knowledge and dispositions to lead the multi-tiered system of support. The program consists of two courses with ongoing, embedded clinical practice/field experience. Course 1 builds candidate’s knowledge, skills, and dispositions to accomplish the work. Course 2 builds expertise through practice implementing both school wide MTSS/SST and individual student support cases. This approach to learning will allow the MTSS Facilitator to design, implement, and monitor a program or processes for effective Multi-Tiered Systems at the school or district level.
Course 1: Foundations of Intervention through the MTSS/SST Process
Course 1 requires nine online learning modules for acquisition of knowledge as the instructional phase. Modules require reading, research, discussions, and product creation. Timely field practice is carefully coordinated with the learning. Candidates complete a total of 50 hours of field experience following a gradual release model.
Course 2: Coordinating and Implementing MTSS/SST Program
In this course, candidates conduct MTSS/SST meetings, perform professional learning and provide technical assistance to staff members, families, and community members, and create/revise and monitor the processes in their organization. Candidates perform fifty clinical practice/field experience hours. Candidates must submit a final ePortfolio showcasing their mastery of standards to exit the program.
